The Gaillardia, "Blanket Flower", is a Herbaceous Perrennial with hairy leaves that are produced in basal rosettes and on the stems. These red, orange, or yellow daisy-like flower heads add color to any garden. Under normal growing conditions, perennials live many years, dying back to the ground each winter. They quickly establish themselves in a few growing seasons and create a backbone for the flower garden. This image captured in Pikesville, Maryland, appears to have attracted a visitor looking for a feast.
